With tempers red as a Cardinal’s crown,
We thrust and parry with wordy swords.
We draw lines in the sand, each taking a stand
Out of sorts, the truth out of sight.
With sundry arguments thundering loud,
We cling to our vision,
Forget the origin,
Lose our thought,
Tenaciously cleave to our version of right.
Later we laugh, call argument the spice,
The pepper, the salt, the seasoning of life.
Would there be any less zest, any less worth
If we buried our hatchets and grew peace on earth?

You allow my eyes to meet Yours
and it is mirrored there,
i feel it in Your touch
Your fingers in my hair
i see it in Your smile
as i lower my eyes
the quiet confidence of love is undisguised
i lean toward You
my lips part in eager anticipation
as You pour Your love into me,
i feel the assimilation
Your cells becoming mine
two lives intertwined
in the quiet confidence of love
As we lie together,
You thrust Your power deep inside
every movement, every moment
holding me in place
yet filling me with pride
Serenity is mine
through the quiet confidence of love.
