Encounter with a Shadow
April 11th, 2009 by Linda JenkinsonAs the sun shone bright behind me
The girl that I had been
Appeared in slender shadow
As I walked westward home.
Passing by a window
I marveled at the difference
The stocky, shrunken figure
That the girl had now become.
As the day ages
So do I
Sun moves past me
Bright and high
Until the shrinking shadow
Almost disappears
As did the girl whose girlish dreams
Shrink through the passing years.
