Balance

March 4th, 2009 by Linda Jenkinson

If justice were to trot out her scales,
What would the balance be?
If we weighed my love for you,
Would it equal your love for me?

It seems that love’s a seesaw
With me teetering on the brink.
If love is white and hate is black
Is gray when love’s extinct?

If I found the in-between,
Would it be a happy place?
Or would it just be misery,
A floating into space?

The verse of love at times is sweet
But bitter the refrain.
However, to refrain from love,
I couldn’t stand the pain.
