Different Roads

March 28th, 2009 by Linda Jenkinson

Tired of my journey,
I sat along the roadside
And listened to the lonely wind
Sing its mournful song.
Tears fell hot against my face
Then you came along.

woman_alone
Two travelers together.
I chose to follow you.
You chased away the shadows
And captured a ray of hope.
Tears fell hot against my face
But I could cope.

Trusting in your guidance
I walked the well-worn path
One you had traveled many times before.
In uncertainty, I faltered.
Tears fell hot against my face
For you would walk with me no more.

Tired of my journey
I sit here by the roadside
And listen to the wailing wind
Sing its mournful song.
Tears fall hot against my face
For you are gone.

Descent

March 27th, 2009 by Linda Jenkinson

to the summit I soar and my wings are clipped
I fall thrashing and spinning.
inevitable defeat.
ground rushes in quickly,
quickly—the end.
ah blessed relief—
still, I’ll fly again.

my spirit will glide on a heavenly plain.
I’ll rise, wheeling and turning,
soaring again,
my eyes filled with morning
as dawn recreates
a new beginning—
an end to the thrashing,
relief from the spinning
seeing the world emerge from the night
fast fading gray into new shining light
ah blessed relief—
God willing, I’ll fly.

Dark Dreams

March 22nd, 2009 by Linda Jenkinson

I don’ t live in the gray world
nor in the black and white.
I am not a waif of dawn
or an enchantress of twilight.
I am merely a woman,
in the Indigo of night.

Come, bring me your dark dreams
and I will make them mine
As we lay in the velvet of midnight
our bodies tangled, entwined.

Come bring me your passions
Let me hear again
The orgasmic songs of lusty souls
Caught in love’s refrain
